Description: ------------ If the pear installer fails with an error, it doesn't exit with an exit code. This makes it hard to trap error when running the installer from a script.

This bug has been fixed in CVS. If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET). If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly. Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release. Thank you for the report and for helping us make PEAR better. this bug was only present in rare cases (corrupt configuration, corrupt dependency database, register_argc_argv is off and we're using CGI), so you should be checking for exit code of 1 for all errors. This will now be consistent for all error cases.
