This may actually be a bug in PEAR_Server - could you channel-delete your custom channel and try again to see if that fixes the issue?

The thing is, I do not have any custom channels what so ever and I'm not using PEAR_Server (well obviously), only channels I have are the default ones, pear and pecl.

this is once again caused by the maxdb package at peclweb. I'm going to open a bug for maxdb to pull and re-release.
