Description: ------------ Together with authentication (see other feature-request) it would also be nice if the installer allowed usage of xml-rpc using SSL as well.

This will not be possible until PEAR 2.0

This bug has been fixed in CVS. In case this was a documentation problem, the fix will show up at the end of next Sunday (CET) on pear.php.net. In case this was a pear.php.net website problem, the change will show up on the website in short time. Thank you for the report, and for helping us make PEAR better. I went a little further. SSL is supported for XML-RPC, download of files, and basic authentication is supported for download as well. This should be everything that a commercial channel needs to implement per-user packages So, it turns out, this is possible in PEAR 1.4 :)
