I'm trying to install PEAR-1.4.0b1.tar and getting a bit of wierdness. It's listing PEAR_RemoteInstall as a dependency but I can't find that listed on pear.php.net. PEAR_RemoteInstaller (emphasis on er) is the closest match.
Is this a typo, or, is this a new package that hasn't appeared yet?

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.

this is finally re-fixed. It was fixed in package2.xml, but not package.xml
