The $preDefFields works only if all fields of the table are included in the array, including table keys, which are displayed as hidden in the form. I believe $preDefFields should exclude keys and any other hidden fields.

Sorry, I think this is a matter of taste. If this is really important to you and you have the time to do it, please feel free to provide a patch.
