The package does not properly create date elements. Apparently the element name is wrong ( not 'dategroup', but 'date'). I have submitted the simple modification below.
In PEAR_ROOT/DB/DataObject/Formbuilder.php:
line 290
from $element = HTML_QuickForm::createElement('dategroup',...
to $element = HTML_QuickForm::createElement('date',...

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
In case this was a documentation problem, the fix will show up at the
end of next Sunday (CET) on pear.php.net.
In case this was a pear.php.net website problem, the change will show
up on the website in short time.
