This bug is __critical__. I would not like to see any PEAR release without clearly fix any issues about PECL.

I know the problem and have been planning to fix that for some time. I'll try to take care of it at the weekend.

Already partly fixed in CVS.
I will dig in sources to find other RPC/PECL issues later this week.

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has already been fixed
in the latest released version of the package, which you can download at
http://pear.php.net/packages.php
