Description: ------------ Under PHP 5.3.* use of Net/POP3 generates a deprecation warning on use of reference assignment with "new". Offending line is: $this->_socket =& new Net_Socket(); Test script: --------------- include("Net/POP3.php"); Expected result: ---------------- No deprecation warnings Actual result: -------------- Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C:\PHP\PEAR\Net\POP3.php on line 156

This bug has been fixed in SVN. If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET). If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly. Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
