replacing: $rx = '/<code>[\s\*]*(<[\?\%](php)?)?\s*' . '(.*?)\s*([\?\%]>)?[\s\*]*<\/code>/si'; with $rx = '/<code>[\s\*]*(<[\?\%](php)?)?\s*' . '(.*?)\s?([\?\%]>)?[\s\*]*<\/code>/si'; works(?!)
