That's very peculiar. This can only happen if the bootstrap didn't happen. Could you please copy paste the entire output of go-pear, including the bootstrap fase ? Thanks, Tias

It seems that PEAR switched from viewcvs to viewvc on its cvs server. go-pear uses that to fetch it bootstrap files. I had similar behaviour as you described when the viewcvs thing was (temporarily) offline, i've pointed go-pear to viewvc now. If this was not the cause of your error please reopen the bugreport with the entire output of go-pear. Greetings, Tias
