Could it be possible to have a new contructor that would allow to retrieve only an array with the packages names and their version, that constructor would be obviously quicker than the standart one, moreover and an additional to return the packages array would be great.

$info = new PEAR_Info($pear_dir, $fastMode);
foreach ($info->getPackages() as $package) {
echo $package->name. ' - ';
echo $package->version. '<br/>';
}
Actual result:

Working on the object returned by PEAR_Info() take to much time.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
