note here that it says
"logging into pear.php.net"
if you want to log into repos.XXXX.com
pear -d default_channel=repos.XXXX.com login
or
pear config-set default_channel repos.XXXX.com
pear login
However, PEAR should detect invalid -d setup (it is expecting a parameter for d, and not error-checking. Changing summary

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
