Already discussed with Greg and Davey.
It's really simple, doesn't break BC and saves a lot of space for small (or heavily compressed) files.
I can commit it if you like, or you can.. or you could shoot it down (-:
Newlines are now preserved.
Anyway, let me know what you think -- IMO it's a bit silly to include ALL of the T_DOC_COMMENTS in the output .phars

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
