Oops. It seems that it is PEAR 1.4.0RC1 beta problem.

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has been fixed in the latest released version of the package, which you can download at http://pear.php.net/get/Image_Canvas Actually there does seem to be a problem. Fontmap.txt was marked as Data, and thereby installed in the data folder instead of pear/Image/Canvas/Fonts. I have fixed this now and will be releasing a new version right now :)

Great! Just in time to stop me filling another PEAR bugreport. =) But I still found a reason to make one. =p
