https://github.com/pear/Net_URL2/pull/17 is another useful thing to get into a release...
The current regex causes problems in PCRE 10.45 (in Debian unstable, as of writing, for example)

Version 2.2.3 of Net_URL2 has been successfully released, and its promotion cycle has
started.

Version 2.2.3 of Net_URL2 has been tagged in the upstream repository.

This is not on https://github.com/pear/Net_URL2 as I am not able to push the tag and
fast-forward master (which worked in the past but something went astray with my
Github PEAR due to being a former Travis user and affected by security issue back in
2020 or so).
Additionally, Packagist has security precautions so that I cannot update the Composer
repository bindings there (despite I'm the maintainer of the package).
We will eventually figure this out, leaving a comment FYI in the meantime.

It's a bit of a pity that this isn't flawless; I've mailed the pear-dev list to get this updated on Microsoft's
Github PEAR Git repository and as I'm the maintainer, there should always remain the option to get in
touch with contact@packagist.org to escalate there, but right now I see no need for that, but let me know
what works for you.
