This bug has been fixed in SVN. If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET). If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly. Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release. Thank you for the report and for helping us make PEAR better. I fixed this in SVN before I realised it wasn't marked as unmaintained. Will organise a QA release sooner or later; but I suppose I had better let the maintainers have a shot!

It appears the "report a bug" just redirects to itself, so I'm posting here since it's related. I'm constantly getting the following error which ultimately causes the connection to drop after the memory is exhausted: Strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in Net_SmartIRC->listenOnce() (line 1659 of /usr/share/php/Net/SmartIRC.php). Has to do with the following code: // check the socket to see if data is waiting for us // this will trigger a warning when a signal is received $result = stream_select($r = array($this->_socket), $w = null, $e = null, 0, $selecttimeout );
