$this->fetchData() calls $this->_validateOptions() without any argument, so it generates an error, but it doesn't produce any error message. Instead this leads to a strange behaviour: when I try to log in with a non-existent user/pass PEAR:Auth tells me that it is ok, but with valid user/pass it denies the authentication. This error was fixed in the patch I have attached for bug #11476, but I forgot to mention it in the description.

in the latest released version of the package, which you can download at
