The spam protection for user notes doesn't work. There are dozens of new spam notes every day. We either need a better captcha system for them or some additional checks (e.g. more than three link in a note => spam).

I thought we ran them through akmisnet like the trackbacks

No, the Text_Captcha_Numeral package is used.
David, was there any change related to the spam protection since the last pearweb release? There seems to be no spam anymore in the notes system. (Or somebody deleted only the spam entries but didn't approve the new real notes.)

The Captcha and akismet is not the same thing, the latter being a spam filter so they should be able to co-exists quite well.
