Attached is a patch that makes the necessary changes to pearweb:
1) ignore the go-pear file
2) make cron automatically update the pearweb_gopear package
Perhaps the pearweb_gopear package will have to be installed manually the first time.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
Thank you for the report and for helping us make PEAR better.
All done except doing the first install, no idea if it's really required :-)
We'll see soon enough, I'll find a sys admin to do that.
