  On May 1, 2007, The PEAR community officially elected
  <a href="/user/cellog" title="PEAR President">Gregory Beaver</a>
  as the first president of PEAR.  Gregory will serve a term from May 1, 2007 until May 1, 2008.

  The role of president is documented in the new
  constitution at <a href="/manual/en/constitution.php">this location</a>.  The president
  will work closely with the <a href="/group/" title="PEAR Group">PEAR Group</a> to
  shape policy that affects the entire PEAR repository.
