The document of an Auth package is old.

For example, it is writing to intro.xml as follows.

>The password column must be at least 32 characters
>   long because we store passwords encrypted using md5() and that is
>   the length of the values returned by md5().

However, crypt form and a plaintext-password can also be used now.
There is no explanation of a method required for attestation, such as getUsername(), otherwise.

Please update by all!!

Clarifying Subject to improve chances it'll ge fixed.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

In case this was a documentation problem, the fix will show up at the
end of next Sunday (CET) on pear.php.net.

In case this was a pear.php.net website problem, the change will show
up on the website in short time.
