Hi there!
I'd like to propose a patch to Archive_Tar that allows
addString() to set a non-hardcoded mode, owner, group, etc
(it would also allow hard and symlinks to be created).
I tried hard not to break existing functionality and updated
docs accordingly (which hadn't happened in the previous rev
of addString()
).
I've attached it below and in pastebin:

This bug has been fixed in SVN.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
