Also a note, the file will open with open office but does not show any of the cells merged.

After some more digging it seems to be an issue that Excel only allows for 255 columns and this script exceeds that by double. This package will write as much data in that direction as it’s given, which is a great thing, no limits and all. So looks like the solution is to split it across multiple sheets, ugh. Closing this for now.
