Hey Luca,
Glad to hear there's another PEAR user out there running CAS.
The problem is that the package depends on the phpCAS library, which is external of course.
Would you like to help me get a CAS library into the PEAR repository?
The phpCAS library is a long ways away from being accepted as a PEAR package, but we could start with something a little closer to PEAR's standards & PHP 5 oriented:

This bug has been fixed in SVN.
If this was a documentation problem, the fix will appear on pear.php.net by the end of next Sunday (CET).
If this was a problem with the pear.php.net website, the change should be live shortly.
Otherwise, the fix will appear in the package's next release.
