When creating xls documents with biff 8 there isn't a problem when you keep it below 50 lines or so. not using the string writer also fixes the problem..
Switching it back to the normal biff also solves the problem. I wanted to use the biff8 for putting >255 chars in one column
I'm using:

OLE 0.5

This bug has been fixed in CVS.
In case this was a documentation problem, the fix will show up at the
end of next Sunday (CET) on pear.php.net.
In case this was a pear.php.net website problem, the change will show
up on the website in short time.
